Whitehouse Common is in the Sutton Trinity ward in north-east Birmingham, six miles from the city centre. The surrounding areas are Reddicap, Four Oaks, Mere Green, New Hall and Sutton Coldfield Town. Whitehouse Common was named after a white farmhouse which stood on a common that was enclosed in the 1820's. The area remained farmland until developed as a residential suburb in the 1950's. It mostly contains low-density detached and semi-detached housing.
