Warstock is in the Billesley council ward in south-east Birmingham, five miles from the city centre. The surrounding areas are Billesley, Brandwood, Hollywood, Druids Heath, Kings Heath, Yardley Wood and Majors Green. Warstock is a corruption of "har stok" meaning a fenced farm by a manorial boundary. The original settlement was on the boundary of Yardley, Solihull and Kings Norton Manors. The Stratford Canal was cut through Warstock in the 1790's. However, the area remained open countryside until the Daisy Farm, Millpool and Highters Heath council estates were built between 1920 and 1960. The hosing stock mainly consists of short terraces and semi-detached pairs laid out on closes, avenues and crescents. Many older homes are now in a poor state of repair and some areas have been rebuilt to modern specifications.
