Overview Stockfield

Stockfield is in the Acocks Green ward in south-east Birmingham, four miles from the city centre. It was named after enclosed (stockaded) farmland. The surrounding areas are Olton, Tyseley, Yardley and Acocks Green.

The Birmingham and Warwick Canal was cut on the north side of Stockfield in the 1790's but the area remained rural until the 1920's when it was developed as a council estate.

Many of the homes were poorly built and the estate was unfit for habitation by the 1990's when it was rebuilt to modern specifications.
