Salford is in the Nechells ward.

Salford is named after a ford on the River Tame, part of an ancient salt route.

Three river valleys converge at Salford: the Rea, Tame and Hockley Brook.

Three canals meet at Salford Junction: the Birmingham & Fazeley, Birmingham & Warwick Junction Branch and the Tame Valley Canal.

Spaghetti Junction was built above Salford.

The Cross City Railway runs through Salford en route from Aston to Erdington.

Salford contains an 18-acre park with a balancing reservoir and Power League soccer centre.

It has a 52-metre tower block (Normansell Tower) which has been scheduled for demolition.
