Overview Reddicap

Reddicap is in the Sutton Trinity ward in north-east Birmingham, six miles from the city centre. It was built on the site of a lookout post (cap) on the Mother Red Cap Farm on Reddicap Hill. The surrounding areas are Mere Green, New Hall, Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield Town and Whitehouse Common.

Reddicap remained farmland on the east side of Sutton Coldfield until the 1950's when the Reddicap Trading Estate was laid out and the first housing estates were built.

These were mainly semi-detached pairs and short terraces, but the density increased after 1960 when a higher proportion of terraces, low-rise flats and residential towers were built. There are also several areas of detached housing.
