Overview Perry Beeches

 Perry Beeches is in the Oscott ward and the Perry Barr ward in north Birmingham, five miles from the city centre. The surrounding areas are Hamstead, Queslett, Great Barr, Perry Barr and Old Oscott.

 Perry Beeches is named after the beech trees of Perry Wood, a remnant of which has survived on the north side of Perry Park.

Perry Beeches is generally regarded as part of Great Barr. It was developed as a municipal housing estate between 1930 and 1960 and is bisected by the M6. The area is characterised by suburban terraced houses and semi-detached pairs on tree-lined broad-verged avenues.

Burglar Jailed for Tower Hill Post Office Raid

A 30 year-old thief, who burgled Tower Hill Post Office through the ceiling of an upstairs flat, was jailed for 21 months at Birmingham Crown Court in January 2011.

 The raid, which occurred on Wednesday 21/07/10, was interrupted after police were alerted; the thief escaped empty-handed but cut himself and was traced through the DNA analysis of blood samples (News Archive 02/02/11)

Beeches Pool and Fitness Centre

Beeches Pool and Fitness Centre is on Beeches Road; it contains a swimming pool with spectator seating, a steam room, sauna, pulse point gym, sun beds and baby changing.

The centre offers toddler, children and adult-only swimming instruction, rookie life saving, parent & toddler swimming, lane swimming, women-only gym sessions, starter fitness programmes and aquatone.

It is generally open between 7am and 10.15 pm Monday - Friday and from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm on Saturdays and 8am to 6pm on Sundays. Opening times may vary.

Perry Beeches Sports and Fitness Centre

The Perry Beeches Sports and Fitness Centre on Beeches Road contains a pulse point gym, hockey pitch, all-weather pitch, sports hall, netball courts, badminton courts, changing rooms and 5-a-side pitches.

The centre offers a range of activities including basketball, badminton, netball, hockey, fitness classes, strikes soccer and 5-a-side football.

The facilities are used by Perry Beeches School and so are only open to the general public on weekday evenings and at the weekend. There is an on-site car park.
