Perry Beeches is in the Oscott ward and the Perry Barr ward in north Birmingham, five miles from the city centre. The surrounding areas are Hamstead, Queslett, Great Barr, Perry Barr and Old Oscott. Perry Beeches is named after the beech trees of Perry Wood, a remnant of which has survived on the north side of Perry Park. Perry Beeches is generally regarded as part of Great Barr. It was developed as a municipal housing estate between 1930 and 1960 and is bisected by the M6. The area is characterised by suburban terraced houses and semi-detached pairs on tree-lined broad-verged avenues.
