Housing: Ladywood Ward |
|
|
|
The Ladywood ward contained a large number of Victorian
back-to-back terraces that were demolished from the 1920's
onwards. Some pre-1919 terraces have survived but do not have
rear houses on their back walls.
The cleared housing was replaced by high density council
estates mainly consisting of terraces, low-rise flats and
residential towers.
Some of these estates have been rebuilt as urban villages
with fewer residential towers, more green spaces and a greater
proportion of detached and semi-detached homes.
The ward also includes new apartment blocks, gated
communities and modern private estates of detached houses,
semi-detached pairs and terraces. |
