five miles from the city centre. It is flanked by the
Brandwood
ward, the Bournville ward, the
Northfield ward and the
Bromsgrove District of Worcestershire. The Kings Norton ward
contains the areas of
Lifford, Wychall,
Kings Norton
Village, the Three Estates,
and parts of
Cotteridge. |

The old village of Kings Norton is a conservation
area flanked by mainly interwar semi-detached and detached
houses. Council estates were built on the surrounding
Worcestershire countryside after the Second World War, namely
Wychall Farm on the western side of the ward and Pool Farm, Primrose and Hawkesley
(the Three Estates) on the eastern side.
The Three Estates contain a total of ten residential tower
blocks; the Wychall Farm towers have been demolished.
The rate of owner occupation in Kings Norton is around 56%.
Roughly 4% of homes are rented from private landlords and 37% from the local authority or housing associations. |
