Kings Norton Village is in the Kings Norton council ward in south Birmingham, roughly four miles from the city centre. The surrounding areas are Cotteridge, Lifford, Wychall and the Three Estates. Kings Norton is a corruption of Kings North Tun which means the northernmost settlement owned by the King. The area formed part of the Royal Manor of Bromsgrove. Kings Norton was a mediaeval village centred on Saint Nicholas Church. The village has retained its rural character despite surrounding urbanisation. The parish church, village green, historic inn and old grammar school now form part of a conservation area screened by Kings Norton Park, playing fields and woods. A belt of suburban housing, mainly of private interwar build, lies outside the conservation zone. Churches in Kings Norton Village St Nicholas'
