Overview: Gosta Green
Gosta Green is an area in Eastside, Birmingham.

It was named after a mediaeval common known as Gorse Green.

It became a slum in the early 19th century after the Digbeth Branch Canal was cut but was almost entirely rebuilt in the 1960's as a light industrial zone with campuses for Aston University and the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design.

Colleges & Universities @ Gosta Green
Gosta Green contains the following colleges and universities:

Aston University, Mathew Boulton College and the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design.

Student Accomodation @ Gosta Green
 
There are student halls at Stafford Tower, Lakeside, and the James Watt and William Murdoch Residences on the campus of Aston University.

Another hall of residence, Block C, is under construction in the Aston Triangle and the former Central Fire Station will also be converted into student accomodation.

Green Spaces: Gosta Green
 
The common pasture known as Gosta Green was urbanised in the early 19th century.

The only green spaces that remain are some incidental parkland and several sports pitches and an ornamental pond at Aston University.

The Digbeth Branch Canal runs through Gosta Green from Ashted Top Lock to Aston Junction.

Gosta Green contains a light industrial zone centred on the Digbeth Branch Canal which includes Aston Science Park.
Parking @ Gosta Green
There is a large underground car park on Faraday Wharf off Love Lane.
Car Travel: Gosta Green
Leave the M6 at Junction 6 (Spaghetti Junction) and take the A38M Aston Expressway to Dartmouth Circus on the A4540 Ring Road.

Or alternatively travel from any direction until you reach the A4540 Ring Road and then continue on the ring road until you arrive at Dartmouth Circus

From Dartmouth Circus take the A38 towards the city centre and then the 2nd left into Holt Street followed by the 2nd left into Love Lane and the basement car park at Faraday Wharf.
