Dame Ellen Pinsent School Website Moseley RFC Moseley RFC
is a professional rugby club based at Billesley Common. It was founded
in 1873 and played its home fixtures at the Reddings in Moseley from
1880 until 2001 when its stadium was sold to repay debts. Despite being one of the
country's leading clubs, Moseley was then reduced to playing on the
Bournbrook fields at the University of Birmingham; it was quickly
relegated to the third tier of English rugby and almost relocated to
Oxford. However,
after Moseley moved to Billesley Common in 2005, it was promoted
to the RFU Championship, the second tier of English rugby, and now plans
to increase its ground capacity from 650 to 5,000. In addition
to its 1st XV, the club, whose colours are red and black, fields a 2nd XV, women's,
colts and junior teams.
Moseley Oak RFC Moseley Oak RFC was established as Selly Oak RFC in 1966, but was renamed Moseley Oak after it moved to Billesley Common where it shares facilities with Moseley RFC. Moseley Oak is effectively the amateur arm of Moseley RFC. It provides, in particular, opportunities for junior players to make the transition from the colts to adult rugby. However, anyone who wants to train, play rugby or join in the club's social activities is welcome. There is on-site parking for 100+ vehicles. The centre is open 7 days a week, from 7am to 10pm. However, some facilities are only available at certain times; opening times may vary. Links: Sports and Leisure Centres Swanshurst Community Leisure Centre Swanshurst Community Leisure Centre on Brook Lane contains, kitchens, classrooms, tennis courts, netball courts, a dance studio, drama studio and gymnasium. The car park has 100+ spaces. The facilities belong to Swanshurst School; they are only available to the general public at weekends and on weekday evenings. Moseley RFC play their home fixtures at Billesley Common. Fans either stand on the touchline or watch from a temporary covered grandstand that can hold 650. The facilities include twelve hospitality boxes, a clubhouse, licensed bar and two function rooms with a capacity of 170 and 50. Moseley moved to Billesley Common after financial problems forced the sale of the Reddings in Moseley, their home stadium since 1880. The club, which currently plays in the 2nd tier of professional rugby, hopes to gain promotion to the Guinness Premiership but needs to improve its ground. Current plans include the construction of a new stand with seating for 5,000, 22 hospitality boxes and 10 changing rooms. These improvements should increase the stadium's total capacity from around 1,000 to 6,500. Links: Billesley Moseley RFC Website Contact Sitemap User Conditions © 2008-2011 LACT Limited.
