The Acocks Green council ward is in south-east Birmingham,
roughly four miles from the city centre. It is flanked by the
Hall Green ward, the
South Yardley ward,
the Springfield ward
and the Municipal Borough of Solihull. The Acocks Green
council ward contains the areas of
Stockfield,
Fox Hollies,
Acocks Green
Village and part of
Tyseley. |

There are around 28,000 people resident in the Acocks Green
ward.
The population density is roughly 60 persons per hectare
compared to an average of 36.5 for Birmingham as a whole. The
average age is 39 compared to 36 for the city as a whole.
Around 13% of the population is of Asian origin with 6% from
Pakistan, 5% from India and 1% from Bangladesh.
Around 4% of the population is black with roughly 3.5% of
Afro-Caribbean descent.
The white British population accounts for around 70% of all
residents.
6% are white non-British (including Irish), 4% are of mixed
race, and 3% are of Chinese origin or belong to some other
ethnic group.

now several years out of date and which was collated in respect
of different ward boundaries.

The Acocks Green Ward contains several post-war and inter-war
housing developments including the Stockfield, Edenbridge and
Gospel estates. Most of the homes on these estates were built
by the council for rent. Some older council homes, including the
entire Stockfield estate, have recently been rebuilt.
The ward also contains several streets of pre-1919 terraced
housing and a number of Edwardian villas. Many of the larger
villas have been converted into flats. Three tower blocks off
the Fox Hollies Road provide sheltered accommodation for the
elderly.
The rate of owner occupation in the Acocks Green ward is
around 58%. Roughly 8% of homes are rented from private
landlords and 31% from the local authority or housing
associations. |
