Saint Agnes Conservation Area

The Saint Agnes Conservation Area is on the south side of the B4217 Wake Green Road in Moseley. It provides a setting for Saint Agnes church which was built in the Decorated Gothic style in the 1880's.

The designated area also includes leafy avenues that contain several Edwardian mansions, individually designed in the arts and crafts style and set in large mature gardens.

Many are listed buildings of architectural interest such as 9 St Agnes Road which features a roughcast and timber-framed facade with chequerboard patterning and 50 Wake Green Road which was built in stone-dressed brick with a steep-tiled roof, segment-headed porch, and leaded windows.

Other notable buildings include a subtly asymmetrical pair of semi-detached villas at 110-112 Oxford Road and a Queen Anne Style vicarage by C.E.Bateman at 5 Colmore Crescent.

St Agnes Church

Saint Agnes stands on a roundabout at the intersection of Dyott Road, Colmore Crescent and Saint Agnes Road.

The church was designed by William Davis in the English Decorated Style and built in rock-faced sandstone in the mid-1880's; it features a nave with buttressed aisles, short transepts and a chancel.

The west tower, battlements and corner pinnacles, which dominate Oxford Road, were added in 1936.
