Bournville Tenants Conservation Area

The Bournville Tenants Conservation Area is located off Bunbury Road in the Cotteridge area of Northfield. It includes Kingsley Road and parts of Hawthorne Road, Northfield Road and Woodlands Park Road.

The designated area contains an urban village built by the Bournville Tenants Limited in the early 1900's. The tenants, who were sponsored by George Cadbury, were inspired by his low-density model village in Bournville.

The housing mainly consists of large semi-detached pairs and short terraces with small front and exceptionally long rear gardens.  Many were designed in the Edwardian arts and crafts style. Three acres of open space at the centre of the village were preserved as playing fields.
