Barnsley Road Conservation Area

The Barnsley Road Conservation Area is in the Rotton Park area of Edgbaston. It contains several large Victorian houses with extensive mature gardens, some of which were designed in the Arts and Crafts Style by the architect Ernest Barnsley (1863-1926)

Such large mansions are now rarely practical as private homes and many similar houses beyond the conservation area have been demolished and replaced by flats or offices.

 Some of the mansions preserved within the conservation area have been left unoccupied for long periods and fallen prey to vandals.
