The Anchorage Road Conservation Area straddles the A5127
Lichfield Road immediately to the north of Sutton Coldfield town
centre. It includes parts of Anchorage Road, Boswell Road and
Mulroy Road. The oldest buildings are Moat House (1680),
Bishop Vesey Grammar School (1760) and Bleak House (1790), all
on the Lichfield Road.
The Lichfield Road also contains a red-brick Victorian
terrace (circa 1850), a row of substantial Edwardian villas and
the Roman Catholic Church of Holy Trinity (1930)
Anchorage Road features a row of Victorian houses of various
designs and Mulroy Road contains detached Edwardian villas and a
Georgian mansion that was partially rebuilt in the 1860's.
Two houses in Anchorage Road and one in Mulroy Road were
designed in the Arts and Crafts Style by C E Bateman.
There are large semi-detached Edwardian houses divided by
boundary walls on Boswell Road. |
