The Mailbox,
Cube and
Waterfront are mixed-use canalside
developments in Westside, Birmingham.
They front the
Birmingham and Worcester Canal as it makes a 90 degree
westerly turn towards
Gas Street Basin. |

The Mailbox stands in a public square beneath Suffolk Street
Queensway with a frontage on the Birmingham and Worcester Canal. This
site was previously occupied by the largest postal sorting
office in the UK whiich, apart from its steel substructure, was
demolished in the 1990's and rebuilt as a mixed-use development with
bars, boutiques, hotels, restaurants, retail units and an underground car
park.
BBC Birmingham moved to new studios at the Mailbox in 2004. |

at the Mailbox.

The Mailbox contains two hair salons, Nicki Clarke and Toni &
Guy. It also has one spa: Le Petit at the Malmaison Hotel. |

BBC @ Mailbox |

The BBC moved to the Mailbox in 2004. It occupies 10,000
square metres on two floors with TV and radio studios, a public foyer,
offices and shop.

Overview: The Cube |
|

|
The Cube (2010) is on Commercial Street, next to the
Mailbox and
the Birmingham and Worcester Canal. It is a 25-floor
72-metre mixed-use tower with an angular crown, a gold-anodised aluminium
frame and a striking window-pattern-facade inspired the Tetris
video puzzle. |

The Cube contains Hotel Indigo: a boutique hotel with 52 luxury
guestrooms on the 23rd and 24th floors. |

The Cube contains a
Marco Pierre White steakhouse bar and grill with a rooftop terrace and
glazed al fresco
balcony on the 25th floor. |

The Cube contains an automated basement car park with 339 spaces.
Customers deposit their car at one of 4 transfer garages where it is
scanned and shuttled by conveyor to an empty space. |

Overview: Waterfront Walk |

Waterfront Walk is a canalside pedestrian boulevard off Holliday Street,
Westside. It is connected by footbridge to the Mailbox and Cube on the
opposite bank. There is a Thai restaurant, the
Kinnaree,
and a
Subway fast food restaurant on
Waterfront Walk. |
