The Cross City Line runs through Nechells en route from
Curzon Junction to Aston Junction South. Heading
north-east from Curzon Junction, the line runs on a
grade-II-listed 28-arch viaduct bridging St James Place,
Northumberland Street and Erskine Street.
From Erskine Street, it enters a cutting, running between
Nechells Green Housing Estate and an industrial park before
arriving at
Duddeston
Station beneath Duddeston Mill Road.
Heading north from Duddeston Mill Road, the line climbs an
embankment between Nechells Green and Saltley before bridging
Saltley Road and passing the Bloomsbury Housing Estate.
From the Bloomsbury Estate, it runs in a cutting beneath
Nechells Place and Nechells Park Road, passing the
Wing Zip Superstore,
Nechells Bathhouse and Long Acre Industrial Estate.
Heading north from Long Acre, it runs above Hockley Brook and
the Birmingham and
Fazeley Canal before reaching Aston Junction South and
Aston Station. |
