The Barton Arms is an Edwardian pub and Thai restaurant at the corner of
Aston High Street and Potters Lane, Newtown. It was built in red-brick
in the Jacobean Style with a landmark clocktower in 1901.
It contains a public bar, saloon, clubroom, committee
room and billiard hall; And has many original fittings including a
mahogany bar with snob screens, pictorial-leaded-stained glass,
polychrome-Minton-tilework and an ornate cast-iron staircase. It is a
grade-II*-listed building. Masked
youths ransacked and torched the Barton Arms at around midnight on
Tuesday 9th August 2011; an unidentified gunman shot at police as they
attempted to restore order
