The evangelical Jesus Army has applied for planning permission for a drop-in centre for the homeless and excluded at a disused office block on Lionel Street (News Headlines 30/08/11).

04.04.11 Application for Conference Centre on Great Hampton Row
The Nightingale Knitwear Centre has submitted an application to convert the ground floor of 184 Great Hampton Row into a new conference and banqueting venue (News Archive 04/04/11).
06.03.11 Tenby Street Apartments
Planning permission was granted for a 4-storey block of flats, containing several three-bedroom family apartments, on Tenby Street in March 2011 (News Archive 06/03/11).
15.10.10 Newhall Square
The former Elkington Silver Electroplating Factory, latterly the Birmingham Science Museum, is being redeveloped as a public square with a car park, offices, leisure & exhibition space, and a Travelodge hotel.

The square was partially opened in October 2010 (News Archive 15/10/10).

15.06.10 Golden Square
There are plans for a new public square, to be known as Golden Square, at the junction of Warstone Lane and Vyse Street, Hockley.

The square, which will cost around £1.5 million, will be landscaped with a lawn, orchard, paving, seating and gold-leaf entrance canopy (News Archive 15/06/10).

02.05.10 Birmingham Mint
The former site of the Birmingham Mint will be redeveloped as a gated community with 224 apartments, parking for 234 vehicles and office space of approximately 6,130 square metres.

There was some doubt over the future of this site as the previous developer, Junared, entered administration in 2009; however, the current developers Rabone have taken over the project (News Archive 02/05/10).

02.10.10 Lucas Factory
The Guru Nanak Nishkam Educational Trust is planning to open a Sikh secondary free school on the site of the former Lucas factory on Great King Street.

Sikh pupils would be preferred for half of the school's 1000 places but the other 50% would be available to all children regardless of religion (News Archive 07/09/10).

The planned school has been approved by Education Secretary Michael Gove (News Archive 02/10/10).
