Typhoo Works
The Typhoo Works are on a 2.5-acre site off Bordesley High Street and are connected to the Digbeth Branch Canal by the Typhoo Arm.

The Works, which date from the early 1930's, closed in 1978 and have been earmarked for regeneration.

In March 2010, the site was offered for sale with planning permission for 353 flats, 485 square metres of office space, a 188-space car park and gym (News Archive 24/03/10).

Part of the site was acquired by the Birmingham School of Business in July 2010 (News Archive 01/07/10).

The Typhoo Works were purchased by a private developer in September 2010 (News Archive 08/09/10).

Kuwaiti Investment Fund to Develop Beorma Quarter
Salhia Investments, a Kuwaiti Investment Fund, will build a mixed-use development on land off Park Street, behind Selfridges and opposite the Bullring. This new £200 million development will be called the Beorma Quarter after the Saxon chieftain who founded Birmingham. It will include apartments, a public square and a 30-storey 107-metre skyscraper at the junction of Park Street and Digbeth High Street. A hotel is planned for the corner of Digbeth High Street and Allison Street and the grade-two-listed former ice factory on Orwell Passage could be converted into a bar and restaurant.
Plan to Convert Digbeth High Street into Events Arena
A proposal was tabled for the transformation of Digbeth High Street into a 50,00-capacity open-air events arena in November 2009 after 60 music fans were crushed at an overcrowded open-air concert in Millennium Square which only holds 20,000 (News Headlines 20/11/09).
