Birmingham Central Mosque is on Belgrave Middleway, Highgate. It was built in 1975 and has three floors, a white-capped minaret and
a white dome with a gold crescent moon.
It can hold 3000 male worshippers in the main hall beneath
the central dome; an additional 1000 male worshippers in the school hall
on the ground floor, and 400 female worshippers on a third floor
gallery; washrooms are provided for ablutions.
Other facilities include a day centre, an Islamic library, offices,
classrooms, kitchens, a marriage bureau and mortuary; leisure and social
activities are organised. |
