Heart West Midlands is at the Square off Broad Street, Five Ways,
Edgbaston. It is a regional radio station that broadcasts
on 100.7 FM, DAB Digital and worldwide via the internet.
It is part of the nationwide Heart network owned by Global, the
biggest commercial radio broadcaster in the UK.
The Heart Network, which was
launched in September 1994, is targeted at the 25-44 female demographic
and plays adult contemporary music.
Heart West Midlands enjoys an audience share of around 9.5% and is
the most popular local radio station in Birmingham. Most content is simulcast from Heart London with only a few programmes made in Birmingham.
Heart shares its studios with Capital Birmingham, also owned
by the Global Group. In April 2011, Birmingham Magistrates handed
a 3 month suspended jail sentence to a 52-year-old man with mental
health issues who damaged the front door of Heart FM with a
claw hammer and vandalised vehicles in the adjoining car park
