The West Midlands division of the Crown Prosecution Service is based at
Colmore Gate in the Business Quarter. It employs over 500 staff and manages prosecutions at Birmingham Coventry, Warwick and Wolverhampton crown courts and at Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Halesowen, Walsall, Warley, West Bromwich, Wolverhampton, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield magistrates courts. |

| Birmingham Law Society |

The Birmingham Law Society is headquartered on Newhall Street in the
Business Quarter; it is the oldest professional association of lawyers
in England and Wales and was formed in 1818 when there were no courts in Birmingham and only 54 lawyers practiced there. The society met at the Royal Hotel in Temple Row until 1832 when it relocated to the Birmingham Law Library on Waterloo Street; both the society and library moved to Newhall Street in 1934. The Birmingham Law Society represents over 3,000 legal professionals in the Midlands and is the largest local law society in the UK. |
