SIFA Fireside is on Lower Essex Street, Southside. It is a
homeless charity created in 2007 through the merger of Fireside
(a drop-in centre) and SIFA (Supporting Independence from
Alcohol).
SIFA Fireside, which employs around 50 staff, aims to improve
the social, physical and mental wellbeing of those who are
homeless, affected by alcohol or socially excluded through
practical assistance such as activity groups, resettlement
schemes, daily drop-ins, alcohol support, employment and
training.
In January 2011, SIFA Fireside held a humanist service in
memory of the 26 homeless people who died on Birmingham's
streets in 2010
