Overview: Nechells Green
Nechells Green is a 267-acre social housing estate in Duddeston/Nechells.

It was built on slum clearance land in 1954-69.

It contains 13 tower blocks, low-rise flats, terraces and bungalows.

Some older stock has been demolished and replaced by modern homes; many properties are now privately owned.

Nechells Parkway (A47) runs through the estate.

Tower Blocks: Nechells Green
There are 13 tower blocks divided into 3 groups: (i) Duddeston Four (ii) Bloomsbury Five (iii) Vauxhall Four
Duddeston Four
The Duddeston Four are High Tower, Home Tower, Queens Tower on Duddeston Manor Road and South Tower on Little Hall Road.

They are 36-metre 12-storey tower blocks with a distinctive X-shaped footprint.

They were built in 1954-55 and are the oldest residential towers in Birmingham.

Bloomsbury Five
The Bloomsbury Five were built in 1961-68; they are Medway Tower, Severn Tower, Thames Tower on Cromwell Street, Victor Tower on Bloomsbury Street and Camrose Tower on Rocky Lane.

Victor Tower is a 59-metre, 20-storey block; Camrose Tower is a 36-metre 9-storey block; Medway, Severn and Thames Towers are 47-metre, 16-storey blocks.

Vauxhall Four
The Vauxhall Four were built in 1965-69; they are Dovey Tower and Trent Tower on Duddeston Manor Road, Humber Tower on Francis Street and Willow House on Vauxhall Road.

Willow House is a 36-metre, 9-storey block; Dovey, Trent and Humber Towers are 47-metre, 16-storey tower blocks

Green Spaces: Nechells Green
The various parts of the Nechells Green Estate are linked by parkland and incidental public space, including:

Bloomsbury POS, Vauxhall POS, Duddeston Manor POS, Nechells Green POS, Loxton Park and Bloomsbury Playground.

Community Facilities: Nechells Green
Community facilities include Nechells Community Sports Centre, Nechells Green Community Centre and Bloomsbury Library.
