Birmingham: Housing

The post-war redevelopment of Birmingham involved the large-scale dispersal of established communities and the construction of 468 residential tower blocks, many of which were located in new fringe suburbs. However, the stereotypical image of Birmingham as a concrete city of sink estates is unfair since there are numerous areas of low-density suburban housing whilst many residential towers have been demolished and replaced by a mix of low-rise social and private housing. This website contains information about the housing stock in all 40 wards in Birmingham: Acocks Green, Aston, Bartley Green, Billesley, Bordesley Green, Bournville, Brandwood, Edgbaston, Erdington, Hall Green, Handsworth Wood, Harborne, Hodge Hill, Kings Norton, Kingstanding, Lozells & East Handsworth, Ladywood, Longbridge Moseley & Kings Heath, Nechells, Northfield, Oscott, Perry Barr, Quinton, Selly Oak, Sheldon, Shard End, Soho, South Yardley, Sparkbrook, Springfield, Stechford & Yardley North, Stockland Green, Sutton Four Oaks, Sutton New Hall, Sutton Vesey, Sutton Trinity, Tyburn, Washwood Heath, Weoley.
