(1) This webpage lists hotels in central Birmingham which is defined as the area within the Middle Ring Road (A4540). (2) The second directory contains information about hotels beyond the Middle Ring Road (A4540) in suburban and inner city Birmingham. (3) The third directory contains information about serviced apartments in Birmingham. City Centre Hotels Suburban Hotels Serviced Apartments Birmingham has increased its room capacity as the conference and hospitality sector continues to expand. There are now roughly 14,000 rooms in central Birmingham. However, the rate of occupation has remained steady at around 66%.
The Briar Rose is a Wetherspoon Lodge attached to a pub of the same name on Bennett's Hill in the Business Quarter. The location is conveniently close to New Street Station which is barely 200 metres away. The hotel contains a mix of 40 ensuite single, double, twin and family rooms. The bar and dining facilities are in the adjoining pub which opens at 7am Monday - Friday and 8am on Saturday & Sunday and which remains open until midnight during the week and until 1am on Friday and Saturday. The Briar Rose does not have a car park so guests have to pay to park at New Street Station. Guide Business Quarter Wetherspoons Website The Britannia Hotel is at 6 Union Passage off New Street in the Retail Quarter, barely 100 metres from New Street Station and the Bull Ring. The hotel, which is owned by the Britannia chain, is housed in an older Edwardian building that has retained most of its original splendour. There are 214 ensuite rooms, each with television, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities etc. Wi-fi is available in public areas. There are ten conference, meeting and banqueting rooms that can accommodate up to 200 delegates. Guests can dine at Jenny's Restaurant, a carvery with an open-plan kitchen, or meet for drinks and a cold snack at Harveys, the hotel bar. The hotel does not own its own car park so guests must use the chargeable NCP car park above New Street Station. Guide Retail Quarter Britannia Hotels Website The Burlington is a large Victorian hotel on New Street in the Retail Quarter, barely 100 metres from the Bull Ring and New Street Station. The lobby of this hotel, which forms part of the Macdonald Group, contains a splendid grand staircase with marble facings. The hotel contains 115 bedrooms equipped with independently controlled comfort cooling and furnished in a range of styles from contemporary minimalist to Victorian splendour. Guests may dine at the Berlioz Restaurant which serves a broad range of English and continental cuisine. The Horton Banqueting Suite can stage private dining functions for up to 400 guests and the hotel contains additional state-of-the-art meeting rooms with high-speed internet access, video conferencing, and independently-controlled air conditioning. The location is barely 250 metres from the International Convention Centre, the National Indoor Arena, and Broad Street. The rooms are equipped with Sky, iMac computers and free wi-fi and Sky TV. The facilities include the City Cafe which serves modern European cuisine. Guests can also dine eat al fresco on a terrace overlooking Brindleyplace. The hotel contains flexible hi-tech spaces that can host business meetings, conferences and private dining for between 8 and 100 delegates. There is also an art gallery that holds an ever-changing programme of exhibitions. Guests may use the chargeable hotel car park on a "first come first served basis", but if there is insufficient room, they may park in the Brindleyplace NCP at the same tariff. The location is barely 100 metres from New Street Station and 300 metres from the Bull Ring and Chinatown. The Comfort Inn is part of the Choice Hotels Group. There are 40 guest rooms, all with wi-fi, and a breakfast room, cocktail lounge and conference/event space for a maximum of 50 delegates. The hotel also contains the Station Bar which is open between 11am and 11pm. The facilities include a fitness centre and 12 meeting rooms: the largest can hold up to 300 reception style. The B1 lounge bar serves light meals and the B1 restaurant, an a la carte menu, healthy eating options and specials. The hotel possesses its own 650-space car park. The location is particularly convenient for the Hippodrome, Chinatown and the Gay Village. The hotel contains 250 rooms with satellite TV. Each room can normally accommodate up to three guests. The hotel, formerly the Birmingham Eye Hospital, is a converted Victorian building with a magnificent sweeping staircase. The location is particularly convenient for Snow Hill Station and Colmore Row. The hotel contains 66 bedrooms and boutique suites set around an internal courtyard. Jury's Inn is at 245 Broad Street in the Convention Quarter. The hotel is a 61-metre concrete-clad brutalist tower with eighteen floors that was built in 1974-75 as an office block. It was converted in 1999 and purchased by the Jurys Inn chain in 2001. Jurys Inn is the largest hotel in Birmingham with 445 standard rooms. The location is particularly convenient for Broad Street, Brindleyplace, the International Convention Centre and the National Indoor Arena.
