Gay Village
The Gay Village is a loosely-defined area centred on the junction of Kent Street and Hurst Street in Southside.

It is the focus of the gay community in Birmingham and contains several gay bars. shops and nightclubs.

These include: Boltz, DV8, Eden, Equator, Fountain Inn, Fox, Missing, Nightingale, Route 2, Village Inn, Wellington Hotel.

Birmingham Pride
The Birmingham Pride is held in the Gay Village during the last weekend in May.

There is normally a procession from Victoria Square in the Business Quarter to Hurst Street in the Gay Village where festivities continue for the following three days.

The organising committee has bid for Euro Pride 2014 and there are plans to twin Birmingham Pride with Berlin Pride (News Archive 07/01/11).

Public Art in the Gay Village
The Birmingham Lesbian Gay Transgender and Bisexual Group will commission a new public art installation at Wynner House on Bromsgrove Street in the Gay Village.

Three designs have been shortlisted: (i) Rainbow Pigeons (ii) Diamante Rainbow (iii) Abstract Rainbow Beacon.

The final choice will be made in October.

The installation will receive a £10,000 subsidy from Birmingham City Council (News Headlines 24/08/11).
