City is a Further Education College offering academic and vocational courses on eight campuses at Aston, Tyseley, Handsworth, Ladywood, Bordesley Green, Small Heath, Sparkbrook and Saltley.
City College: Fordrough Campus (Top Menu)
The Fordrough Campus of City College is housed in a modern state-of-the-art academy on Bordesley Green.
It offers academic and vocational courses to young people and adults; these include public services, the performing arts, catering, hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism. The facilities include fashion workshops, beauty suites and hairdressing salons.
Fordrough also contains the administrative centre for all eight city college campuses.

City College: Aston (Top Menu)
The City Academy Aston is a constituent campus of City College; it is housed in a state-of-the art building on Whitehead Road in Aston that was completed in 2004.
Aston is a women-only college that teaches academic, vocational and ESOL courses and offers specialist training in art, fashion, design, languages and IT.

The City Technology Campus is on Amington Road in Tyseley. It provides training in motor vehicle repair & maintenance, body, paint, auto-electrics and electrical installation.
The college also teaches a range of IT courses intended to equip students with the skills required for networking, systems maintenance, PC & software support.
The facilities include state-of-the-art workshops, a learning resources centre, cafeteria and recreation area.

City College: Handsworth Campus (Top Menu)
The Handsworth campus of City College is the old Council House on Soho Road: an Edwardian building from which Handsworth was governed before it became part of Birmingham in 1911.
The campus offers a range of academic and vocational qualifications. It teaches, in particular, catering, hospitality, beauty, hair and business courses to students, mainly aged 16-19.
There is reasonable access for students with disabilities. However, parking is virtually non-existent, save for off-street spaces where restrictions apply and traffic wardens are particularly vigilant.

City College: North-West Skills Academy (Top Menu)
The Northwest Skills Academy on Stour Street in Ladywood is a constituent campus of City College.
It is housed in state-of-the-art premises completed in 2008 that include several ecological features such as a wind turbine that generates electricity and a heating system that uses recycled rainwater.
The academy teaches practical skills that offer good chances of employment, namely: business & retail, computing, construction, health & social care, sports studies and vehicle maintenance & repair.
It also offers supported learning and help with basic skills, particularly English & Maths. Courses can lead to BTEC and NVQ qualifications.

City College: Golden Hillock Academy (Top Menu)
The Golden Hillock Academy in Small Heath is a constituent campus of City College. It is a women-only centre housed in state-of-the-art purpose-built premises that first opened in 2007.
The academy offers a broad range of academic and vocational qualifications, including specialist courses in art, fashion, design, IT and early years. English is taught as a Second Language.
The campus contains a cafeteria, a learning resource centre and the Golden Start Nursery with 50 places for children aged from 6 months to 4 years. The classrooms are equipped with smart boards & projectors and are fully accessible to students with disabilities.

City College: Saltley Campus (Top Menu)
Saltley Academy is a constituent campus of City College; it is located on Anthony Road in Saltley.
Saltley is a women-only centre that offers a safe, supportive and culturally-sensitive learning environment in which women and girls can study for qualifications in a broad range of academic and vocational subjects such as business, administration and childcare.
The academy also teaches English as a Second Language.

The Muath Centre, formerly the Bordesley Centre of Further and Higher Education, is on the Stratford Road in Sparkbrook.
The centre, which is a constituent campus of City College, is housed in refurbished buildings owned by the Muath Welfare Trust: a Yemeni charity established in 1990 in order to provide education, training, welfare and social activities, primarily to the Yemeni community.
The college offers a range of vocational and academic courses in partnership with the Muath Welfare Trust; these are provided in a culturally-sensitive learning environment; men-only, women-only and mixed classes are available.

The Birmingham Metropolitan College is a combined further education and specialist sixth-form college with a main campus at Sutton Coldfield and satellite campuses at Eastside, Perry Beeches, Stockland Green, Erdington Town and Castle Vale.
Metropolitan College: Sutton Coldfield Campus (Top Menu)
Sutton Coldfield College is a further education college and specialist sixth form centre on the Lichfield Road in Sutton Coldfield Town. It is the main campus of Birmingham Metropolitan College.
The campus features a purpose-built sixth-form centre constructed in 2005 and a state-of-the-art sports centre built in 2007. It also contains several older buildings, including a listed Jacobean mansion, gatehouse and lodge (circa 1680) designed by the architect William Wilson.
Sutton Coldfield College offers GCSE, AS/A-level, and vocational courses to roughly 3,000 sixth form students. It also runs day-release apprenticeships, mainly targeted at the 16-24 age group, and teaches full-time, part-time, evening and weekend adult courses.
The college also offers some higher education qualifications, including foundation degrees and postgraduate diplomas, and participates in the "skillsbreakthrough" initiative with flexible tailored programmes designed to improve workplace skills.

Metropolitan College: Mathew Boulton Campus (Top Menu)
Mathew Boulton College is a constituent campus of Birmingham Metropolitan College. It moved to a new purpose-built site on Jennens Road in Eastside, next to Aston University, in 2006.
The college offers over 500 courses to around 7000 students. These range from academic subjects at AS, A-level and foundation level to teacher training and vocational courses in such areas as healthcare, sports, leisure and technology.
The college is a centre of Vocational Excellence in print media, graphics, medical sciences, business and professional services. It is striving to achieve similar vocational status in electronics, performing arts and information technology.

Metropolitan College: James Watt Campus (Top Menu)
James Watt College (formerly Great Barr College) on Aldridge Road in Perry Beeches is a constituent campus of Birmingham Metropolitan College.
It offers courses for 16-19 year-olds, adult learners and companies ranging from GCSE's, NVQ's and A-levels through to HE, HND and professional qualifications.
The facilities include a common room, study centre, refectory, library and the Brooklyn Beauty Suite partially staffed by students which offers a range of treatments at competitive prices, including aromatherapy, reflexology, pedicure, manicure and electrolysis.

Metropolitan College: Josiah Mason Campus (Top Menu)
Josiah Mason College is a constitutent campus of Birmingham Metropolitan College; it is located on Slade Road in the Stockland Green area of Erdington.
Josiah Mason first opened as a specialist sixth-form college in 1983 and became a community college in 1992, offering an additional range of day-release, adult and university-level courses.
In addition to A-levels in academic subjects as biology, history and religious studies, the college teaches a broad range of vocational courses ranging from childcare through to forensic science and beauty therapy. It became a constituent campus of Metropolitan College in 2006.

South Birmingham College is a college of further education with a main campus at Hall Green and constituent campuses at Digbeth, Balsall Heath and Bordesley Green.
The college offers a broad range of vocational and academic courses, mainly aimed at school leavers and job seekers. It also teaches adult education courses, designed to top-up or improve the skills of students already in employment.
The college also provides some higher education courses in partnership with Wolverhampton University and Birmingham City University, amongst others.

The main campus of South Birmingham College is on Cole Bank Road in Hall Green.
This campus is attended by over 2000 students and offers a broad range of qualifications from GCSE, BTEC and NVQ through to HNC, HND and foundation degrees.
Subjects covered include beauty and holistic studies, catering and hospitality, childcare and early years, fashion and textiles, travel and tourism, health, social care and hairdressing. There are also courses in business studies, basic skills and ICT.
The facilities include a cafe, common room, gym and weights room, pool tables, a hair and beauty salon and a restaurant with an international menu.
The campus is also equipped with a library, a computer resource centre, a 50-place nursery and a dedicated higher education learning and social centre.

The Digbeth campus of
South Birmingham College is on High Street Deritend in Digbeth.
The college offers courses in music, sound, performance, multimedia, fashion and textiles in addition to business-related subjects such as accounting, management, administration, information technology, health and safety.
It also offers basic skills qualifications, particularly in Maths and English, and some higher education courses, including teacher training.

The Bordesley Green campus of South Birmingham College is on Fordrough Lane off Bordesley Green Road.
It contains the Centre for the Built Environment which teaches construction industry skills such as plastering, plumbing, brickwork, carpentry, joinery, heating and ventilation in dedicated state-of-the-art workshops that replicate industry conditions.

Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College on Belgrave Road in Highgate is an independent college of further education that is governed by its own constitution and directly funded by central government.
The college offers academic and vocational courses primarily targeted at school-leavers aged 16-19.
These include GCSE, A-Level and AS Level in academic subjects such as chemistry, history and mathematics and BTEC introductory, first and national diplomas in vocational subjects such as art, design, business, health and social care.
Students can also study community languages such as Arabic, Bengali and Urdu. English is taught as both a first and second language.
The college has been awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education.

The main campus of Bournville College is on Bristol Road South in the Weoley area of Northfield.
This campus is a combined sixth form centre and further education college that offers academic and vocational courses to adults and school leavers aged 16-19.
These courses range from A-levels in subjects such as Maths, English and History to BTECs in childcare, hairdressing and horticulture etc.
Bournville also offers higher education access diplomas in professional fields such as teaching, health & social care, management and accounting.
The college was established as an industrial school by the Cadbury family in 1899 but became an independent college in 1913 and moved to its current premises in Northfield in 1972.
The main campus will move again in September 2011 to a state-of-the-art building currently being constructed as part of the new Longbridge town centre.
