It is a long rectangular building with a glazed facade covered in slats and a rotund projection containing an IMAX cinema.

The internal arrangement is centred on a public atrium known as the HUB.

Millennium Point was conceived as a world-class regional centre for science and technology.

It contains: (1) Thinktank Science Museum  (2) Birmingham School of Acting (3) IMAX Cinema (3) the design studios of Birmingham Metropolitan College and (4) the Technology, Engineering and Environment faculty of Birmingham City University.

It also contains the offices of several private companies and government agencies, including: (1) Unitemps (2) Marketing Birmingham (3) Tide Global Learning (4) Rider Levett Bucknall: property consultants

The facilities include a licensed bar and cafe and a multi-storey car park accessed from Jennens Road.
