| Birmingham Women's Hospital (Top) |

Birmingham Women's Hospital is on Metchley Park Road in Edgbaston; it is managed by the Birmingham Women's NHS
Foundation Trust. The hospital, which was founded in 1968, contains birth & neonatal units; it provides in- and out-patient services for women & babies in specialist fields such as gynaecology, urogynaecology, fertility & genetics. It also treats menstrual disorders, prolapse & continence problems, hormone & menopausal disorders and gynaecological cancers. The campus includes the West Midlands Regional Genetics Service, the National Genetics Education Service, the West Midlands Cancer Intelligence Unit & the West Midlands Public Health Observatory. This hospital stopped supplying formula bottled baby milk to new mothers save in emergencies on 1st July 2011; management claim that they are promoting breast-feeding but critics suspect that this is another cost-cutting measure (News Headlines 07/06/11). |
