Handsworth Cemetery is a 68-acre burial ground off Oxhill Road,
Handsworth. It was laid out in 1909 and contains a grade-1-listed
red-brick mortuary chapel designed in the Arts and Crafts style by
W.H.Bidlake. The red-brick cemetery lodge and iron gates at the main
entrance on Oxhill Road are also grade-II-listed by W.H.Bidlake. The cemetery accepts new burials since 20 acres are still
vacant; there are consecrated, Free Church, Roman Catholic and Muslim
sections. |
