The Birmingham and Worcester Canal runs through the University
Quarter en route to Gas Street Basin in Westside. Heading northwards from the Battery Retail Park in Selly Oak, the canal runs alongside the Cross City Railway. It then passes beneath the railway, switching from the west to the east side of the tracks, before reaching QE Hospital and University West Gate. It then continues to University Station and turns eastwards, past the Munrow Sports Centre, before travelling beneath Pritchatt Road and Somerset Road and skirting the Vale Student Village. |
