The following airside incidents have been reported since August 2010:
 
Runway Fuel Spillage Causes Flight Delays
 
A hydraulic fuel spillage on the runway at Birmingham Airport caused flight delays from around 1pm on Monday 25 April 2011. The spillage was cleared within 40 minutes; 4 landings and 4 take-offs were delayed and one flight was diverted (News Headlines 26/04/11).
 
Light Aircraft Narrowly Misses Flybe Jet
 
A private light aircraft narrowly missed a Flybe jet taxiing on the runway upon landing at 3.30pm on Wednesday 12/01/11 (News Archive 17/01/11).
 
Fuel Overload on Easyjet Flight (Top)
 
On Boxing Day 2010, a fuel-overloaded Easyjet heading for Geneva was unable to take off until 37 passengers had been removed; 7 voluntarily disembarked and the last 30 to check-in were ordered off (News Archive 11/01/11).
 
Emirates Jet Stuck in Sludge (Top)
 
An Emirates jet travelling to the UK from Dubai landed safely but then taxied off the runway and became stuck in sludge at 2pm on Tuesday 21st December 2010 (News Archive 21/12/10).
 
Light Aircraft Crash on Runway (Top)
 
A private Cessna aircraft carrying a transplant liver burst into flames at the end of the runway at approximately 3pm on Friday 19/11/10. The airport was closed for over 20 hours and traffic was diverted from the A45; two injured men were hospitalised (News Archive 20/11/10).
 
Bumpy Landing for Monarch Malaga Flight (Top)
 

A Monarch Airbus A321 carrying 196 passengers from Malaga bounced 7 metres in cross-winds on 4 separate occasions when landing at 1.30pm on Tuesday 14th September 2010 (News Archive 17/09/10).

 
Monarch Flight Engine Fire (Top)
 
A Monarch Flight bound for Tenerife with 213 passengers was diverted back to Birmingham at 6:45pm after an engine caught fire on 3rd August 2010. The plane made an emergency landing and all passengers were safely disembarked (News Archive 04/08/10).

01.10.11: Man Jailed for Attempting to Smuggle Cocaine through Birmingham Airport
 
A 36-year-old man has been jailed for 6 years at Manchester Crown Court for attempting to smuggle half a kilo of cocaine with an estimated street value of £130,000 through Birmingham Airport on a flight from Zurich on Wednesday 18th May 2011 (News Headlines 01/10/11).
 
Border Agency Targets Immigration Crime at Birmingham Airport
 
As part of a crackdown on immigration crime at Birmingham Airport, the UK Border Agency arrested a 29-year-old Albanian woman on a flight from Brussels in June 2011 and charged her with identity offences and seeking leave to remain in the UK by deception; she was remanded in custody by Solihull magistrates (News Headlines 28/06/11).
 
Cash Confiscated From Istanbul-Bound Passenger (Top)
 
A passenger about to board a flight to Istanbul at Birmingham Airport was stopped and searched after attracting the attention of a sniffer dog trained to detect large quantities of cash and other contraband. The man, who was carrying $4,000 and EUR 1,000, could not explain why he had such a large amount of cash and so the money was confiscated under the Proceeds of Crime Act (News Archives 06/04/11)
 
Corpse Outside Airport (Top)
 
The corpse of a 51-year-old man, who may have been a hit-and-run victim, was discovered on the A45 outside Birmingham Airport on Sunday 07/11/10 (News Archive 08/11/10).
 
Airport Flasher (Top)
 
In September 2010, a jury at Warwick Crown Court convicted a 42-year-old man of exposing himself to two 17 year-old girls at Birmingham Airport (News Archive 03/09/10).
 
Cannabis Smuggler Jailed for 14 Months (Top)
 
A 49-year-old man was jailed for 14 months at Warwick Crown Court in August 2010 for attempting to smuggle 5.98 kilos of cannabis in three cake times on a flight from Montego Bay to Birmingham (News Archive 02/08/10).
 
Murder Suspect Airport Arrest (Top)
 
A man aged 19, who was suspected of the murder of a 23-year-old woman in Maidenhead, was arrested at Birmingham Airport on Friday 25th June 2010 (News Archive 01/07/10).
 
Egg Smuggler Arrested at Airport (Top)
 
In May 2010, a 48-year-old man travelling to Dubai was arrested on suspicion of smuggling peregrine falcon eggs stolen from nests in Wales (News Archive 07/05/10).
 
Airport Car Thief Jailed for 12 Months (Top)
 
A 50-year-old man was jailed for 12 months at Warwick Crown Court in May 2010 for the theft of a car that he hired at Birmingham Airport but failed to return (News Archive 05/05/10).
 
Cocaine Smuggler Jailed for 5 Years (Top)
 
A 19-year-old student was jailed for 5 years in March 2010 for attempting to smuggle cocaine with an approximate street value of £119,000 through Birmingham Airport on a flight from Amsterdam (News Archive 23/03/10).
 
Cannabis Smuggler Jailed for 21 Months (Top)
 
A 43-year-old man was jailed for 21 months at Warwick Crown Court in March 2010 for attempting to smuggle 17 kilos of cannabis through Birmingham Airport on a flight from Jamaica (News Archive 09/03/10).
 
Cannabis Smuggler Jailed for 34 Months (Top)
 
A Warrington man was jailed for 2 years and 10 months at Coventry Crown Court in February 2010 for attempting to smuggle 14.9 kilos of cannabis through Birmingham Airport on a flight from Jamaica (News Archive 17/02/10).
 
Heroin Mule Jailed for 9 Years (Top)
 
A 35-year-old man swallowed 138 grams of heroine before flying from Islamabad to Birmingham Airport on 11 June 2009; he was jailed for 9 years for drugs and firearms offences in December 2009 (News Archive 18/12/09).
 
Cannabis Smuggler Jailed for 1 Year 9 Months (Top)
 
A 21-year-old man was jailed for 21 months at Birmingham Crown Court in December 2009 for attempting to smuggle 7.3 kilos of cannabis through Birmingham Airport on a flight from Montego Bay (News Archive 13/12/09).
 
Shuttle Driver Stole Passenger Baggage (Top)
 
The 39-year-old driver of an airport shuttle bus stole passenger hand baggage on 3rd June 2009 (News Archive 3/12/09).
